Many Swedes have a summer home, a place to escape the hustle of the city (and celebrate Midsommar!) Our family has a lovely sommarstuga on Lake Mälaren in Kvicksund. Morbror Stig told me that they used to come to the stuga to stay for the whole summer when he young, leaving as soon as the weather was nice enough-sometimes before school was let out. The stuga is full of wonderful treasures, old postcards, doors hand-painted by my great grandfather and great great uncle, curtains that hint that my own Morfar has had a hand in the decorating. The perfect place to spend a summer afternoon (though I'm not sure about the whole summer - no indoor plumbing!)
Kick back and join us at Lake Mälaren...
